Point of View: What and Why

Point of view is one of the most powerful, and underrated, tools that you have at your disposal when crafting fiction. It’s the difference between whether you let a character speak for themselves, or whether you speak for them. In fact, when a story feels stilted or isn’t flowing the way you think it should, simply shifting between points of view, or POV, can sometimes be all you need to make a good story great.

But what are the points of view on offer, and how do you decide which one to use?
